Ahmady discusses her curatorial interests focusing on the process and development of her research and advocacy of art from Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and other countries of Central Asia. The talk spotlights the historic events that have forced many contemporary artists to live and work abroad and the ways in which their work powerfully addresses the experience of stagnation, loss and change. Artists inside the region are experiencing a cultural regeneration in their small but vibrant artistic communities and discovering critical acclaim on the international art stage.
