As a recipient of the Hong Kong based Asia Art Archive's Martell Contemporary Asian Art Research Grant, (2005) Ahmady returned to Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan) to research the development of contemporary art in the region. She interviewed & documented the works of 85 artists, curators, and art managers in Central Asia. In April 2007 Ahmady gave a lecture about her findings at Asia Art Archives in Hong Kong, which is also published as a comprehensive research essay on their site. The dynamism and range of works by Central Asian artists appearing in global art forums contributes a fresh perspective on art and its practice and also redefines the Asian continent.
Ahmady's trip to the region included her giving a number of workshops, and lectures at various Central Asian art centers to expose to works and practices of artists in the United States, Europe, and East Asia.
